ANGEL Basics (1 hour) Tuesday 12:00-1:00pm
Prerequisites: Basic familiarity with computers and navigating the World Wide Web
Learn about the ANGEL Web interface, creation and uploading of documents, rosters and quizzes. In this workshop you will:
o Receive pointers to documentation and support info including links to a beginners packet in Portable Document Format (PDF), email and phone contacts
o Create a class roster
o Learn to upload Microsoft Office files
o Create a quiz
ANGEL Advanced Topics I (1.5 hours) Tuesday 11:30am-1:00pm
Prerequisites: ANGEL Basics or familiarity with the ANGEL environment
Learn about ANGEL administrative functions, including utilities, reports, grade book and permissions. In this workshop you will:
o Work with activity reports
o Learn to customize the grade book
o Work with Group Management
o Work with Course Settings
ANGEL Advanced Topics II (1.5 hours) Tuesday 11:30am-1:00pm
Prerequisites: ANGEL Basics or familiarity with the ANGEL environment. Some technical expertise including familiarity with HTML, creation of audio, video and other image files, and PowerPoint.
Learn how to create a community of learning based on student learning styles. In this workshop you will:
o Learn to create and upload custom content, including html, video, images and audio files
o Learn to integrate PowerPoint with automation and audio synchronization
o Receive pointers on good content presentation
o Learn to customize the ANGEL interface, including renaming tabs and working with icons
o Learn about other ANGEL functions including chat rooms, discussion forums, course email and calendars
Beginning PowerPoint (1 hour)
Prerequisites: Basic familiarity with computers and word processing
Learn how to create an effective PowerPoint presentation. Design tips will also focus on color, fonts, font sizes and layout. In this workshop you will:
o Learn how to employ the auto-content wizard, the design template, and the blank presentation format.
o Learn the elements of a good presentation.
o Learn how to create your own unique master slides and how to apply them as new presentations are created.
o Learn how to format content using progressive disclosure.
Advanced PowerPoint (1 hour)
Prerequisites: PowerPoint Basics.
Learn how to embellish PowerPoint presentations with graphics and special effects. In this workshop you will:
o Learn how and when to use charts, tables and graphs.
o Learn how to use special effects such as animation, sound, timing, movie clips and slide transitions.
o Learn that formatting and avoiding too many graphics and special effects that can make a presentation distracting and hard to follow.
PowerPoint Roll-out Posters (1 hour)
Prerequisites: PowerPoint Basics.
Learn how to create a rollout poster for presentation of research or activities. In this workshop you will:
o Learn how to create a print ready PowerPoint slide for poster creation.
o Learn how to design and effective poster using appropriate color, fonts, font sizes and graphics.
o Learn design tips such as how to create a dynamic layout, what graphic file resolutions and formats to use, and how to prepare your file to be printed by a vendor.
