Welcome Amy Blevins, Associate Director for Public Services
We are pleased to announce the recent hire of Amy Blevins, who will join the Ruth Lilly Medical Library team as the Associate Director for Public Services on November 2, 2015. Amy will lead a team of library faculty and staff in support of the education, research, clinical translation, interprofessional education, and population health initiatives of the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). She will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve curricular integration and support for the nine IUSM centers around the state.
Amy comes to us from the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences at the University of Iowa where she developed a longitudinal curriculum-based library instruction/evidence-based practice program for undergraduate medical students while also working with clerkship and residency directors to create and improve evidence-based practice initiatives. Amy also manages the University of Iowa's Simulation Collection and chairs the Simulation Advisory Committee, which is composed of faculty and staff members from several health sciences colleges.
Amy is a recognized leader nationally and has served or led a multitude of committees and sections within libraries, the Medical Library Association (MLA), and the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic (MAC) Chapters of the Medical Library Association. She also served as a mentor for new and early-career librarians. Amy has a certificate in Distance Learning and Administration and the skills to move the Ruth Lilly Medical Library forward as we enhance the new curriculum of the IUSM and provide a higher level distance instruction to IUSM medical students around the state.
Amy moves to Indianapolis with her husband and her Pomeranian "Cujo."
